Whether you're thinking about putting your first plan in place, or need to refresh your existing plan, this series will touch on all the fundamentals of a strategic planning process, from preparation and stakeholder engagement, through the creation of measurable and time specific annual operating plans, to implementation and evaluation.
Workshop #1 - How to Build and Sustain a Mission and Stakeholder-Driven Strategic Plan (Wednesday, November 17, 9-11:00 AM)
What is a strategic plan and why do we engage in planning? This workshop will include a review of key concepts and the strategic planning process, from identifying and engaging stakeholders to developing goals and developing, implementing, and evaluating a multi-year work plan that is responsive to the rapidly changing environment we live in.
Workshop #2 - You’ve Committed Your Organization to Strategic Planning…Now What? (Wednesday, December 15, 9-11:00 AM)
In this hands-on workshop, participants will discuss the use of specific tools and activities leading to the identification of thematic goal areas, practice developing concise, clear, implementable, SMART and mission-based goals, and develop supporting objectives for their organization's work plan.
Workshop #3 - How to Ensure Your Strategic Plan Doesn’t Sit on the Shelf and Collect Dust (Wednesday, January 19, 9-11:00 AM)
This workshop will get into the weeds on developing annual operating or work plans for your goals and objectives. Participants will learn about the use of dashboards to keep their strategic plan front-and-center at staff and board meetings and consider strategies for holding themselves and each other accountable for the success of the plan.

Nancy Preston an independent strategic planning and fundraising consultant. She started her solutions-oriented consulting practice in February 2005. Prior to that, she spent 12 years in the financial services industry as a marketing and business development professional, and 10 years in higher education conducting fundraising management at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Over the past 15 years Nancy has engaged in more than 80 contractual arrangements with community-based nonprofits in the social services, education, faith-based, and recreation industries, among others.
