Emerging Nonprofit Leadership Accelerator
The Emerging Nonprofit Leadership Accelerator (ENLA) is a selective and rigorous leadership development program. The mission of ENLA is to cultivate a robust talent and leadership pipeline for the nonprofit sector in the greater Capital Region. Intended outcomes of the program include:
ENLA Fellows engage in team-building, professional soft skills workshops, and technical trainings facilitated by subject-matter experts, participate in small peer learning groups, and receive one-on-one mentorship and career advisement over the course of six months to prepare for future leadership roles.
- Program participants will feel more confident, prepared, and committed to stay in the sector and assume leadership roles
- Program participants will cultivate a strong and trusted network of nonprofit peers enhancing opportunities for long-term collaboration and partnership in the sector
- Nonprofit organizations will benefit from the improved leadership and performance of employees who participate
- The Greater Capital Region nonprofit sector will benefit from an expanded pool of qualified nonprofit leaders

What WILL YOU GET OUT OF ENLA?
- Professional soft skills and technical trainings led by experienced nonprofit sector leaders, consultants, and scholars
- A supportive network of mutually benefitting connections with mentors, trainers, and a cohort of peers
- Sector guidance and advice through one-on-one mentorship and career coaching sessions
- Significant personal and professional growth
What IS YOUR COmmitment?
- Engagement with more than 75 hours of programming over six months
- Active participation in all trainings (topics include: human resources, finance, development and fundraising, marketing and communications, team-building and supervision, project management, leadership and culture, diversity/equity/inclusion, board roles and board management, and more)
- Active engagement with a small Peer Learning Group (PLG)
- Preparation of a PLG project
- Mentor and career coaching meetings
- Personal and professional goal-setting
- Outside reading and assessments
- Trainings will alternate between fully (all) in person or fully (all) via Zoom. Participation at both will be required.
Applicant Qualifications:
- Currently working as a mid-level manager, program coordinator, or associate director at a nonprofit organization in the greater Capital Region
- Have at least 5 years of professional experience - 2 minimally in the nonprofit sector
- Have completed an undergraduate degree or possess a mix of equivalent experience and/or education
- Have not completed nor are currently working towards a graduate-level degree in nonprofit management
Application Process:

- Interested candidates are invited to complete an online application and submit their resume to nonprofit@albany.edu
- Selected candidates will be contacted to schedule an interview
- Final selections are made by mid-December
Program registration cost:
The program registration fee for accepted applicants is listed below. Registration covers all program costs including training workshops, mentorship, special events, supplies, and materials. In addition, ENLA Fellows are entitled to attend Nonprofit University workshops free of charge between January and June 2022. Our hope is that organizations will support the development of their emerging leaders. ENLA is offered on a sliding fee scale. Scholarship funds are available and may be requested on the application.
